Mixed-Income redevelopment of Coastal Worli Koli
With Mumbai urban social and economic inequity increasing and the threat to the coastal Worli Koli from rising seas, abandoning the Worli site as an anchorage in favor of the sea means that poor and affluent citizens will share the challenges and possibilities of their new home.
Our proposed reticulated exterior surface, a contiguous public roof park and facade, provides a structure for housing the Koliwada fishing community with cosmopolitan urban dwellers. The land within the site boundaries will be restored to its natural state and become part of the city’s inventory of open spaces.
