We bring a new practice and understanding of human development to urban planning and architecture by creating learning environments for growth.
Cities’ Explosive Growth
Major cities’ populations are rapidly growing imposing new challenges for affordable housing. Yet, cities are often unprepared to build the necessary relationships among various segments of the population to meet the social challenges of growth.
Decaying Infrastructure
Decaying infrastructure, land scarcity, effects of climate change, and environmental practices demand new, creative responses.
Growing New Partnerships
New kinds of out-of-the box partnerships need to be built to achieve the city in which we want to live.
Development and Architecture
Flamm takes its inspiration from Newark’s rich history of transportation connecting the eastern seaboard to the south and Midwest. As a “station for development”, young people and adults arrive at the center to create new performances together, grow, develop, and then leave for new destinations such as Lincoln Center, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and the Newark Museum, where they continue their development journey. The center’s design incorporates elements of a transportation station - large clock, information booth, and ticket counters - that are pressed into service to provide stages for new life performances.
